The Charleston Pond rug is loosely based on the tradition of garden rugs. Originally these depicted Persian formal gardens with streams and flower beds. My version is abstracted from the Charleston pond with its bull-rushes surrounded by undergrowth, statuary and pathways. I have also attempted to use Charlestonian colours and motifs in celebration of the house, which has been a part of my life as long as I can remember.
