This silk scarf is one of a Limited Edition of 50 hand printed to order in our London studio. It comes presented gift wrapped in a black and gold embossed box with a numbered signed card certifying provenance.
This design was inspired by a wonderful book I was given about Toiles de Jouy. Although the print works at Jouy are best known for their conversational pastoral scenes, they also printed many patterns featuring fantastical fruit and flowers. They made much use of the ‘vermicular’ pattern popular in the 17th and 18th Centuries which I have used in the centre of my design.
The Filigree scarf features a highly decorative intricately patterned floral border which was all hand painted to scale (in the days before I had a computer). The making of this special piece involves incomparably dedicated design work, screen-making, dyeing, printing, washing and finishing.
The scarf shown here is printed in blue and black on a cream ground with a signature in one corner, hemmed edges and tasseled corners as an optional extra.
